From Concept to Completion – Schrödinger’s Hairball Art

Posted on July 7, 2018 by Maya Bohnhoff

Sometimes how something goes from high concept to reality is the result of deep forethought, careful planning and a firm grasp of the principles of marketing … and sometimes somebody just scribbles something on the paper tablecloth in an Italian restaurant because someone else came up with an album title.

How did Schrödinger’s Hairball’s cover art—by the amazing and multi-talented Beckett Gladney—come into being?

Look What Turned Up On Our Doorstep!

Posted on June 27, 2018 by Maya Bohnhoff

Yes indeed. Here they are, many boxes of Schrödinger’s Hairball.

This answers the question as to whether the CDs exist or do not exist. They DO exist! They are obtainable directly from us, from CDBaby(in a week or two), or–if you prefer downloads—from BandCamp. And if you attend science fiction gen-cons or filk-cons, you will be able to purchase these mysterious items from the usual suspects.

Yes! They will be available at Westercon. Glad you asked. 🙂 We will also be performing in the filk hall and in the main venue. Check your convention schedules for show times.

Of course, if you buy the physical CD, you have all the stunning artwork by none other than Beckett Gladney, who also plays harmonica and adds vocal talent to the album.

The Truth Behind Schrödinger’s Hairball

Posted on June 22, 2018 by Maya Bohnhoff

In his famous 1935 thought experiment, Erwin Schrödinger presented a scenario in which a hypothetical cat in a closed box might be simultaneously dead and alive, with its state only revealed when observed from outside.

In our endless quest to bring scientific buzzwords into the world of music, we have created an audio experiment known as Schrödinger’s Hairball, in which a collection of songs, through a process of parodic superposition might or might not be parodies of classic rock songs.

The album was created under rigorous experimental conditions, exploring a range of pop culture subjects all in the name of science and cheap humor. We will only know for sure whether the songs are “real” or parody when you observe them by listening.

We look forward to your reports with the answer to this vexing parody paradox.

Thank you,

Jeff
